Google Launches New Web Browser, Chrome
Google Inc. has unveiled a new free web browser called Chrome, which should be available for users to download on Tuesday. The company has planned to launch this new browser in an attempt to compete with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and offer easy-access to their search engine.
Over this past holiday weekend, Google published an online comic describing the features that their new browser will offer. Chrome will be available in about 100 countries and they will soon release a version that will be compatible with both Mac and Linux platforms. It is likely that Google will leverage their strong hold on the search engine market and their popular brand name in order to garner a large response from web users.
Chrome is expected to see some changes in the near future. “This is just the beginning — Google Chrome is far from done,” according to the official Google blog. “We’re releasing this beta for Windows to start the broader discussion and hear from you as quickly as possible. We’re hard at work building versions for Mac and Linux too, and will continue to make it even faster and more robust.”
Google touts their new browser as being user friendly and attractive, while harnessing the power of the latest web analytics applications. “We improved speed and responsiveness across the board,” states Google’s official blog. “We also built a more powerful JavaScript engine, V8, to power the next generation of web applications that aren’t even possible in today’s browsers.”
Google believes that the “…web gets better with more options and innovation. Google Chrome is another option, and we hope it contributes to making the web even better.”
