CPA from Google?
SEO Scoop
Some are speculating that Google Wallet, Big G’s long rumored payment system, will allow advertisers to purchase advertising on a Cost Per Action basis, where they only pay for a click if it results in a purchase through the Google Wallet.
SEO Scoop suggests that this could mean the end of Cost Per Click advertising, and as a result, the end of click fraud.
Not likely. A large percentage of Google advertising goes to websites that do not have a shopping card system. Perhaps the site simply generates leads.
CPC isn’t going away, and neither is Click Fraud.
That said, Google might well release a CPA offering alongside Google Wallet. This would be a great way to convince merchants to implement Google Wallet within their stores. Building a base of compatible stores is one of the greater difficulties a new payment system faces.
However, such CPA advertising would naturally only be available to merchants who implement Google Wallet. That, and Google’s market power, might be enough to push Google Wallet to quick market success.
